Public transport

During the 4Days Marches, the public transport operators will do everything they can to get all walkers and visitors to and from Nijmegen. Additional buses and trains will be scheduled and extra-long trains will be running to and from the city. And all transport will run from early in the morning until late in the evening. The easiest way to get to and from Nijmegen during the 4Days Marches is by public transport. Whether you are a walker or a supporter, or are just coming for the festivities, public transport will take you right to the heart of the city. 

Travel to Nijmegen with NS

During the 4Days Marches longer and additional (night) trains will be running to transport walkers, supporters and visitors to their destinations. Want your journey to go as smoothly as possible? Be well prepared and plan your trip from 10 days before departure using the NS app or via ns.nl. Shortly before departure, check again for the latest travel information and plan your return journey in advance as well.

Extra trains
NS will operate additional early-morning trains for walkers from Utrecht Centraal, ’s-Hertogenbosch and Zwolle, allowing them to arrive at the start on time. Always check the NS app before travelling.

Group ticket
Travel affordably with a group during off-peak hours. Travelling with seven people? Then you pay only €8.07 per person for a one-way journey to Nijmegen. More information and tickets can be found here.

Tip: there is no longer any need to buy separate tickets. With OVpay, you can easily check in and out using your debit card, credit card or mobile phone on trains, buses, trams and the metro. RRReis to Nijmegen 

During the 4Days Marches, Arriva will operate additional night trains from Saturday 18 July to Friday 24 July on the following routes: from Nijmegen to Venray, from Arnhem to Doetinchem and from Elst to Tiel.

From Tuesday 21 July to Friday 24 July, additional night trains will operate from Venray to Nijmegen, from Doetinchem to Arnhem, and from Tiel to Arnhem.

Blarenpas

Blister Pass From Tuesday July 21 through Friday July 24, special early buses will operate. The routes and departure times can be found in this brochure (in Dutch). To travel on these buses, you need a special ticket called the 'Blarenpas'. The fare depends on the distance between your accommodation and the starting point of the 4Days Marches. For example, if you are staying in Groesbeek, the fare is €38.90. Ask the sales staff which fzone you need.

All other tickets are not valid on the buses, including the OV-chipkaart. If you do not have a Blarenpas, you can buy a special ticket from the bus driver. Depending on the distance, the fare is €7.80 or €10.35.

Where can you buy a Blarenpas? 

You can purchase a pass on Sunday July 19 and Monday July 20 at:

• The RRReis information stand at the Wedren, where you collect your 4Days Marches registration card
• Selected 4Days Marches campsites in the region
• The RRReis ticket office in the main hall of Nijmegen Central Station, diagonally opposite the AKO bookstore. This ticket office is open every day, including Sunday (12:00–18:00 hrs CET)
