Story of Evelien de Bruijn

Radio DJ, presenter, and creator of ‘Uit de podcast,’ Evelien de Bruijn, walked the 4Days Marches in 2025 for the third time. In the 4Days Marches magazine VIER! she already shared her love for walking, Pink Wednesday, and the meaningful conversations along the way. Now, after completing 4x50 kilometers, she looks back — and does so with pride.

4Days Marches: friends for life, friends for now.

“Looking back on 4x50 kilometers, I can’t feel anything but pride! Not only in myself but also in my fellow friend and colleague Anniek, whom I dragged along. We laughed so much together, and also with the group of people we met along the route. Everyone’s a little crazy, of course, to walk such a distance, but the sense of togetherness I felt was beyond anything. On day 1, you meet people; on day 2, you happen to run into them again; on day 3, you make plans to meet up; and on day 4, you’re friends for life.

Voor even, want eenmaal uit de bubbel van de 4Daagse, gaat alles gewoon weer door, met eigen vrienden. Maar je weet: volgend jaar zie ik ze weer.”

A day to be completely yourself

Evelien was already looking forward to Pink Wednesday in the magazine, and that had everything to do with the meaning behind this colorful day. “There aren’t many days in the year when you can be completely and joyfully yourself,” she said at the time. What started as a reaction against anti-gay morals has grown into a powerful statement for inclusivity. Especially at the 4Days Marches, where so many different people come together, that message is truly felt. And for Evelien, who feels personally connected to it, that makes the 4Days Marches all the more special.

In that respect, little has changed. For the third time, Evelien fully immersed herself in the magic of the 4Days Marches: the encounters, the empathy along the way, and the bonds formed in four days. “Everyone has a story,” Evelien concludes.
