“We even had energy left!”
During the upcoming edition of the 4Days Marches, the 50 km route and the route for military participants on the fourth day will be adjusted between Grave and Beers. The change is the result of consultations between Stichting DE 4DAAGSE, the municipality of Land van Cuijk, and the province of Noord Brabant. It aims to improve traffic flow, ensure accessibility for residents and emergency services, and at the same time optimize the walking experience for participants.
The 50km walkers will now follow a new route along the Kraaijenbergse Plassen. Military participants will walk from Grave to Beers via the provincial road. These routes align better with the existing traffic plan for that day and create a calmer and more attractive course. As a result of this adjustment, the so-called “back route” between the villages remains available for local traffic and emergency services. The routes for the other distances on Friday will not change.
The 4Days Marches organization states that the adjustment has been carefully coordinated with all parties involved and fits within existing permit and safety frameworks. “We want the 4Days Marches not only to run smoothly for walkers, but also to remain manageable for the surrounding area. With this adjustment, we maintain that balance in a responsible way,” said Hans Teunissen, Head of Mobility at Stichting DE 4DAAGSE.
The municipality of Land van Cuijk also emphasizes the importance of good cooperation and clear agreements for an event of this scale. Residents along the route have already been informed by the municipality about the adjusted situation and what it means for accessibility. The 4Days Marches organization will communicate the revised route to participants in a timely manner via the website and other communication channels. A map of the adjusted route is attached to this press release. The full route maps for all walking days will be available by early June at www.4daagse.nl/en.
