'It’s on the Zevenheuvelenweg that I really get the 4Days Marches feeling'
The 108th edition of the 4Days Marches is officially sold out. When the second registration period opened on Monday February 9 at 10:00 hrs CET, ticket sales were disrupted due to a technical glitch at the ticketing partner, Atleta. Despite this, the remaining approximately 2.400 entry tickets were claimed within an hour, bringing the total once again to the maximum of 47.000 participants.
Reaction from ticketing partner Atleta
“Due to an underestimation of the popularity of the 4Days Marches and the available capacity, a queue disruption occurred this morning, which caused the sales process to run less smoothly for some people. We understand that this led to disappointment, and this does not meet the professional standard with which we aim to serve the 4Days Marches,” said a spokesperson for Atleta.
High demand
Registration for the 4Days Marches 2026 began at the end of January with a priority period for young people born between 2008 and 2014, as well as for participants who have successfully completed the march in the past ten years. Interest quickly proved to be unprecedented. During the first registration period, the number of available tickets decreased faster than last year. When the second registration period opened, the remaining entry tickets were claimed within an hour.
March leader Henny Sackers: “It remains difficult to have to acknowledge that we are disappointing many walkers. We realize that this is frustrating for many, especially given that this morning’s ticket sales did not run smoothly.”
Limited capacity, deliberate choices
The organization has seen strong growth in popularity in recent years. Decisions regarding the registration process are made based on extensive analyses, with participant safety, quality, and overall experience as key considerations. The maximum of 47,000 participants is fixed and cannot be increased due to permits, safety, and crowding along the route.
In recent years, steps have already been taken to improve accessibility, such as shortening the registration periods and reducing the number of years for which previous participation counts. The organization is carefully examining which next steps are possible.
Opportunities for first-time participants
Within the fixed limit, there is still room for new participants. Many first-timers are among the young walkers with priority and among military participants. In addition, approximately 2,000 walkers participate through the Via Vierdaagse preparatory program. Each year, around one-third of the participants are first-timers. In 2025, more than 15,000 new participants took part.
For walkers who were unable to obtain an entry ticket, there will be another opportunity starting Tuesday, February 10, through the official ticket transfer system. Registered participants can safely and anonymously transfer their entry tickets via the 4Days Marches platform. Transfers outside this platform are not possible. This process has been further improved with a waiting list, providing more transparency and peace of mind for potential participants.

The table below shows that first-time participants consistently make up a substantial portion of the participant field.
