Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find an overview of frequently asked questions. On the page Draw by lot you will find relevant information on the draw.  If your question is not answered, please contact us. Our contact details can be found at Contact.

The Four Days Marches always start on the third Tuesday of July. The 96th Four Days Marches will take place from 17 -20 July 2012.

The first registration period begins Monday 6 February and ends Friday 2 March 2012. The second registration period opens Monday 5 March and ends Thursday 5 April 2012. Registering is only possible on the regulation or extended distance that applies to the registrant. At the button ‘Register?’ you can see which registration period applies to you. Here you may also find all information regarding registration and payment.

The first registration period of the 96th Four Days Marches will open online on 6 February 2012. If you are unable to register via the Internet, it is possible to request a registration form by telephone or in writing (letter or e-mail). You can contact the Central Administration from 30 January onwards.

Everyone that has successfully completed the 95th Four Days Marches will receive an invitation by e-mail or regular mail before the start of the registration period. If you did not receive this invitation, but are eligible to register in the first registration period, you can always register via this website.

We can always be reached in writing, by e-mail. From Monday 30 January onwards (the week before the registration period starts) the Central Administration can also be reached by telephone on weekdays between 13.00 hrs and 16.30 hrs.

No, by establishing registration periods the exact moment of registering does not matter provided one registers within the time limits of the periods.

Yes, all individual participants can cancel their registration in writing up to and including 5 April, or – when a draw is necessary - until fourteen days after the results of the draw are known. The paid registration fee will be fully refunded less a € 6.00 administration charge.

When you register for the Four Days Marches for the first time you will be allocated an unique and personal registration number that will be linked to your name and other data. This registration number consists of a maximum of six digits. When you do not know your registration number you can request it at My Four Days Marches. Use this number when you register or when you contact Stichting DE 4DAAGSE.

At My Four Days Marches you can find the last reward awarded to you as registered by us. If this does not correspond with the last reward you received, you can contact the Central Administration in writing stating 'previous participation'. We will take your request under review, although these requests will not be answered during the Four Days week. Requests submitted before 1 April can be processed in time for the coming Four Days Marches.

If you have ever successfully completed the Four Days Marches, and it cannot be found in our digital database, then we should be able to find you in our archives. Our filing clerk is eager to find out what reward you received when you last successfully completed the marches, ensuring you will receive the correct reward for your next participation. You can contact the Central Administration in writing stating 'previous participation'. We will then send you a questionnaire that will enable us to find you in our archives.

When you are - in your opinion, unjustly - registered for reward 1 and there is a chance that you will therefore be in a possible draw, you can contact the Central Administration for archive research. If your request has been received by us before 1 April, we can make sure that it will be under consideration in time, i.e. before the draw.

The regular registration fee for the 96th Four Days Marches is € 48.00. Members of walking associations KNBLO-NL and NWB are eligible to receive a once-only discount of € 5.00. Ordering a certificate (upon registration) costs € 10.00. More information on the registration fee and the certificate can be found at ‘Register?’.

The Four Days Marches are a walking achievement event and every participant is required to minimally walk their regulation distance. It is not possible to walk a non-regulation distance and waive a reward.

Participants with a disability, either physical or intellectual, and companions of participants aged 12-15 can appeal to the dispensation regulation of the Four Days Marches. This regulation is, however, not applicable to participants who cannot walk their regulation distance due to medical circumstances.

If, after the second registration period closes, the registration limit of 45,000 participants has been reached, there will be a draw by lot among those that have registered in the second registration period for reward number 1. When the registration limit of 45,000 participants has not been reached after 5 April, the registration will re-opened on Tuesday 10 April until the limit has been reached or until 25 May. In this last period registration is only possible via the Internet and the registration fee will be € 65.00.

The Four Days Marches are a walking achievement event. Therefore, we believe it to be important that participants are well prepared. At the button Preparation you will find several tips that will help you prepare.

By offering a complete trainings- and support programme named 'Via Vierdaagse', Walking Association KNBLO and its subsidiary organisation Stichting DE 4DAAGSE want to make sure that participants in the Four Days Marches that walk for reward 1 are better prepared to walk the marches. Walkers interested in this project and wish to participate in the training programme can find the rules and regulations and further information at www.viavierdaagse.nl.

Information on accommodation during the Four Days Marches can be found at Accomodation in the menu Transport and Housing.

When you have lost a medal, please inform us in writing (e-mail or letter) that you wish to order a replacement medal. In response to your request we will inform you on the amount of money you should transfer into our account to order this medal. After we have received the request in writing and the receipt of the payment, we will send you the replacement medal.

Many people do not realise that the Four Days Marches revolves around volunteers. Prior to and during the Four Days Marches about 250 volunteers are doing their work. At Event-Organisation you can find more information on becoming a volunteer.
